For Bob, artwork by Harald den Breejen; installation detail

Annotation made by Bob (lightbox; 'If a hole isn't open, it isn't a hole.'), and ape (pencil drawing).

For Bob

was developed for

On Dedication

, an exhibition and publication made in collaboration with the CPVA and Corridor Project Space. After years of not knowing quite what do do with Bob's notes, I happened to mention them to philosopher Christopher Hamilton. We discovered a mutual love for second hand books, praising above all the traces left in them by their previous owners: ranging from lofty comments, to angry vandalism, to whole letters left in their covers. We annotated our own publication, both for each other, and in the hope that others might follow. For a preview of the pubication (both my section and the sections of the other participants of On Dedication), please click here.

My gratitude goes out to all who were involved in this project. I am grateful for the support of the CPVA, Corridor Project Space, AFK, and Amsterdam Stadsdeel Oost, as well as to WeDocumentArt for the photography I used on this page.
