Passing Resemblance

is based on a series of images created by rolling a ping-pong ball over a flatbed scanner. The simple movement of the ball (seen from our perspective at least) is transformed by the addition of a second moving object; from the scanner's point of view the balls are strange and unpredictable objects.
The images are displayed as transparencies in lightboxes of varying sizes. Shown above is a series of four small-scale lightboxes, accompanied for the occasion of

at Hanmi Gallery, London, by an oversized plaster ping-pong-ball-sculpture suspended from the ceiling. Below are two larger images from the same series.
